Workbench and to do

Hello my friends,

I hope you all have seen the new head of the blog. It should show the contents and preferences. Whether British India or Warhammer 40,000, whiskey or books, the Victorian era, or the land of the Rohirrim. Everything counts in this blog.

I started with the Royal Engineers in the Sudan campaign. Since I imagine a flexible design of this particular troupe led by Major Dudley and Lord Peter Wimsay and accompanied by Frederick Augustus Burnaby, I mixed the uniforms.

As a reference I used footage from the film Khartoum.

You can see on the Pictures, that the Guardsmen and Trooper are using the red and the grey tunic. Other then the 24th Welsh Borderers in Zulu War the trousers are khaki, with red and with grey tunic.
Behind Major Kitchener (he is wearing the grey tunic) are two Companies, first in red tunic, second is serving in grey.

There are some Movie Scenes to see:

Behind Lieutenant Colonel Stuart (11th Hussars), the Drill Instructor wears the red tunic with standard darkblue trousers.

So I have decided to mix these uniforms at the Royal engineers in my brigade.

Also, because I imagine that they provided their services not only in Sudan, but also in India, South Africa and China. It is also a use in Canada.

I hope new Pics coming end of the week.

Greetings, Gordon

Royal Engineers - [IV] - Heliograph

Hello dear comrades!

Yesterday i had a new packet from Nottingham. The Heliograph troops from Sudan assortment of Perry Miniatures, Napoleonic Hussars Spure and 10th Hussars with Lancers again.

Also I have looked again at Major Dudley. The saber is gone now, because it looks bad. One of the Officer from the Heliograph troop looks like Dudley in his regular full dress uniform.

I want to buy Camel Corps, Highlanders and Indian Service...will see if there is an other one too.

The Heliograph is a Troop of Royal Engineers i think.
It is a good idea to use them as such.

Second i have begun to paint the Gordons last stand Diorama...pics coming soon.
Do someone know where i can see pulp-, steampunk or historical minis of the victorian time ?

Cheers, as well...
Gordon

Indian Office, Royal Engineers & Secret Service [I]

Hi Friends !

Ok...Admiral Drax Comment showed me that my photographs convey a slight green tint. Considering that, please ...

The Petty Twins had help me out. The special range of sudan shows us some magazin corespondents, like  Melton Prior, Frederic Villiers and Bennet Burleigh. I use the diorama for my own one.

My idea is to represent a group of Royal Engineers and Indian Staff Officers. Like an intelligence service team.

This is the original from https://www.perry-miniatures.com.

This are the two horses...

Their leader is Major William Cedric Dudley..

He wears his uniform pants, because he really is an officer charge of Bengal Cavalry in duty of imperial indian staff.

The other two are officers of the Royal Engineers and the Indian Staff Office. Images come to nearest days.

Have a good week.
Gordon
