Service Dress -Part III

Hallo Friends !
now, it is time to take a look at the possibilities. I have search in internet for some pics about the Indian Army in British Service of the British Raj. That means the time after the Great Mutiny from 1857. There we have an Rissaldar from 13th Bengal Lancers. Dark Blue and white Trousers.

The next picture shows us an british Officer in the Uniform of the 1st Madras Cavalry. The Trousers are the same like the other, real british Regimenst, but the Jacket ist an very funny blue.

On this picture we have two Guides from the Corps of Guides. On the left Infantry on the right cavalry.

There are european Officers from the 1st Bengal Cavalry, called the Skinners Horse. They have yellow Jackets.

Ok, so long this time. I am very interestet wich Regiment i want to paint for.

Greetings,
Gordon

Service Dress Dilemma - Second

Hi Guys,

first time i wanna say thanks ! There was a feedback about my questions, with help. So i finde this old picture with uniforms from Sudan, India, Zulu and Beor War.

Now I have to think first what kind British army I want to paint.

My first and still favorite incidence is to paint a British Indian Army. With Corps of Guides, some Sepoyunits and British Regiment in India.

Lord Chelmsfords South African Army is an second thought, and the Sudan withi Wolsley ore Kitchener maybe.

And there are Canadian Regiment and units who are making with these figures.

What do you think i should do this summer ?

I will do a survey and what was coming out, I'll paint ...

Please, help !

So long,

Lord Gordon

Service Dress Dilemma

Now my dilemma is perfect.
As for my native cavalry, they should be the Corps of Guides.

But my British cavalry ... a dilemma!

Do any of you still references relating to the Service Dress while serving in India?

The 17th Lancers look similar, such as the 10th Hussare in Sudan, as do suggest the Perry twins.

But that's me .... just ... has an idea for

1) a British cavalry regiment
2) in the Indian Service between 1870-1900
3) best with reference?

I have some red in remembrance of jackets, white Piths and blue pants. Does anyone have pictures of the 1st Kings Dragoon?

Thanks !!!!

Book review [2] - Bernard Cornwell, "Sharpe´s Fury"

English Layout

Synopsis

The acclaimed twenty-first novel in the number one bestselling series featuring Richard Sharpe.

In the winter of 1811, the war seems lost. All Spain has fallen to the French, except for Cadiz, now the Spanish capital and itself under siege.
In Cadiz, Richard Sharpe discovers more than one enemy. One of them, a baleful priest, finds a weapon to break the British alliance and Sharpe must find ways to defeat him in a sinister war of knife and treachery in the dark alleys of the city. As a small British force is trapped by a French army, their only hope lies with the outnumbered redcoats who, on a hill beside the sea, refuse to admit defeat. And there, in the sweltering horror of Barrosa, Sharpe finds his old enemy Colonel Vandal once again.

German Layout

I first met Sharpe with in the the BBC series, starring Sean Bean. Since then I have devoured each film.
I start reading the books later, however, begun late to be exact with Sharpe's Tiger, now the first novel of the series now (at least as far as the chronology).
My experience with Cornwell i first had with the Uthred Book Series. But I have to say that his present and his style of writing, I sometimes like better than the old time books. This may of course be due to the translation from English into German, but you will notice when each book was written (at least I tell myself that one).
Sharpe's Fury is also such a book like this new cornwell style. It was "between" the old pushed because Cornwell wanted Sharpe in the siege of Cadiz. I think this book is great. Of course i am biased, of course I'm a fan, but as I did above, hopefully clear, not every book is well written.

So i can recommend it to you. Enjoy.

Greetings

Gordon

Greetings and a happy new year !

Time does not stand still. This is also true for me.
Unfortunately, I have at the moment obviously very, very little of it.

And, what I have at times, I began to do other things, have absolute priority.

Maybe I'll write it in the next few months something, but that'm sure you noticed, I am going to write not only about figures and Warhammer.

So, thank you to see that you were there. Would be glad if you give me remains true and you would also like my other themes.

absence, the fight and a big, black time hole

Do you know that?

Time flies faster than you think do.

nothing has become reality of what you have planned.

Other, more important commitments take their toll and

the material of the hobby in the basement gathering dust .....

The fact is that I read again and again on your blogs and see what you all have created.

Whether Klaus, not Santa or Colonel Scipio and many many more ...

hope to find the time until the end of the year ... so far.

All the best!

Gordon
